Last year, we hosted an Open Mic event at the Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos called The Lemon Curd. The event succeeded in bringing together people with interest in the arts, music, poetry, drama, and dance. It was an afternoon of fun, with food, drink, and entertainment supplied by young entrepreneurs and business owners. Since it was our first major event, we had some setbacks that ought to have been foreseeable and we have learned from it.

This year, The Lemon Curd is back! And we are ready for a bigger and better outing by:

  • Promoting more upcoming musicians/performers including spoken word
  • Promoting young entrepreneurs with the inclusion of stalls
  • Supporting an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Northern Nigeria
  • Featuring performances by popular Nigerians artists (to be announced soon)

With the current state of Nigeria’s economy, our aim is also to encourage young Nigerians to support Nigerian businesses and products by offering stalls to local businesses. This year, we plan to support an IDP camp. There are currently over 3.3 million internally displaced people in the North and Nigeria now has one of the largest population of people displaced by the inhumanity of man against man.

Those affected by the insurgency often lack water, food and other basic amenities; as a team, we feel compelled to help those in need. We intend to donate some proceeding to gate takings to ‘Sanitary Aid for Nigerian Girls’ a campaign that provides sanitary towels for girls in public secondary schools and IDP camps.

Looking for a day to unwind? Eat, drink, listen to good music and catch some of your faves perform live while you explore local businesses and play some games? Well, The Lemon Curd is just for you then.

Join us at Muri Okunola Park on the 5th of August 2017  and we promise you won’t regret it. More details coming soon!
