Bondage

Bondage

You woke up startled in the middle of the night
You tried to move from your bed
But his legs firmly wrapped around your small helpless body
Enclosed and imprisoned you
Suffocating you till you couldn’t breathe anymore

But you had to breathe
You couldn’t give up now
You looked down at your wrists
Dainty however precise but yet clapped in irons

And if you closed your eyes long enough
And concentrated hard enough
You could almost hear it
The faint cry of your offspring edging you on

Moreover, if you decided to break the chains
All those question-marks lingered
Plus, the church wouldn’t allow it
Your family wouldn’t support it
Your wallet wouldn’t endorse it

So, you lie there, still at first
But you begin to shift as the beating wounds ache
And try to think up remedies to hide the marks
You wouldn’t want the neighbours getting curious

You remember the ‘good old days’
When you were carefree and wild
Effervescent, vivacious and blazing

He was enticed by this
Drawn to you like a moth is drawn to bright light
You too were in awe of his beauty

And when he said he couldn’t behold such radiance
You dimmed your light, didn’t you?
Till you were no longer beaming
And then he did it
He made you tamable
